Selkirk Boomstik vs OMNI: Which Selkirk Paddle Should You Buy?

Selkirk is one of the most recognised names in professional pickleball, and two of its paddles come up in almost every conversation in our ProShop: the LABS Boomstik and the OMNI. Both are excellent. They are built for different jobs.

The Short Answer

  • Boomstik if you want power first: a loud, explosive paddle that rewards aggressive players.
  • OMNI if you want an all court paddle that balances power, control and spin.

Selkirk LABS Boomstik

The Boomstik is built around Selkirk's BoomCore foam interior for explosive pop. Selkirk says there is no break in period and no core crush, just consistent output from day one. Its MOI Tuning System shifts weight to the edges of the paddle, which enlarges the sweet spot and makes it feel more stable on off centre hits, with a heavier feel in hand.

The Boomstik comes in two versions:

  • USA made with InfiniGrit, a surface Selkirk rates at three times the durability of raw carbon: Elongated and Widebody.
  • Raw carbon face, made in Asia and precisely weighted out of the box: Elongated, Widebody and the Everglade colourway.

Selkirk OMNI

The OMNI is Selkirk's all court paddle. It uses Selkirk's ReactCore full foam construction and an adjustable MOI Tuning System, so you can tune the balance to your game, with a multi strata carbon fibre face and durable InfiniGrit surface for spin.

  • The OMNI Elongated adds reach and plow through for drives and serves, and its longer handle suits two handed backhands.
  • The OMNI Widebody is built for maximum forgiveness, stability and control.
  • The OMNI Chalk White is the elongated model in white.

Which Should You Choose?

If you win points by overpowering opponents from the baseline and transition zone, choose the Boomstik. If you want one paddle that does everything well, or you spend a lot of time at the kitchen, choose the OMNI, and pick the widebody if forgiveness matters most.
